I started my journey with covoiturage.fr by booking my one way trip with awesome couple Flore and Phillipe. Nice guys to company for journey. We did chit chat while on the way with African, Brazilian, Spanish music. Couple speak French, English, Portugese and Spanish so it was OK for me. We started around 10am and reached by 2pm at Mont Sainte Michel ( Pronounced as Mo-Sa-Mishel in English). We followed the path http://g.co/maps/r7gng
I had not booking my journey back to Paris. Flore was bit surprised to know it and was very curious on "how i will travel back to Paris?" I too wasn't knowing it but i said its adventure to go for unplanned and unknown first time journey! You get to learn lot of new things. And surely I did it!!!

I went inside the big doors. I saw couple of museums and reached to main door to buy the tickets. Its 9Euro normally. I reached top of the mont and came back by 4pm. I meet Flore and Philipe on way back in restaurant for lunch. Omlette with fries was good for me.

I reached down to look for transport. Best way is to meet guys from tourism office. Lady gave me path details and handed me over the small paper to track my way to Paris. I had to take bus at 5.15pm from Mont Sainte Michel to Rennes and from there I need to catch hourly train to Paris. Bus took the way http://g.co/maps/d7jwr .

French speaking couple was sitting on first sit at entrance. I was just second in row so got front seat just behind the driver. I was watching people of multiple ethics and languages were riding the bus. There were many of Japaneas, Chinease, Turkish and one English speaking family. There was no one who knew French except the driver and couple on front seat at entrance. Bus moved slowly and said good bye to Mont Sainte Michel! It was beautiful in evening.

We cross road toward Rennes for an hour. I was thinking to take a train to Paris from Rennes. I was worried if they have train from Rennes and obviously I had pay heavy for booking at last minute. There was clear signal on next circle. Driver was running at speed of around 30km/hour. Suddenly signal light turned red and bus stopped with couple of glitches. Signal turned green in small time, we were good to go. Driver turned the gear. Grrrrrrr...rr.. and peeep peep peep... sound started.
Driver couldn't start it.
I was getting worried. I understood something is wrong with the bus. Its public transport bus and could be possible to go down anytime! Drive now called his superior sub station member for help. I could only understand word like "Merde, ohh.. putain!!"
Its was sure, its going to take some more time. People on back side starting gossiping among them.

Driver got up from seat and wore his over coat and came in from. Started speaking with French guy sitting in front row. French guy pointed his finger to me!!! I had understood, they said English (Anglais) while speaking.
I was seeing the console of display was shows windows commands on black prompt. It was again MS Windows and bus never started running. It was lot of electronics and software stuff in bus. I never understood why French make things more complicated and comprehensive to use. Bus is simple device to run an engine and move on with help of mechanism of ignition engine and fuel. It will only need light and power supply for ignition and front lights. I was afraid, what is use to this shit electronics display and 100s of button on driver panels. Its all use less to fix the bus. Even driver wasn't sure on whats wrong with bus. It was bad!!!
Below conversation in French written in English to read it correctly. Correct spelling and meaning in bracket next to it.

Driver turned to me asked,"vule vu parle aungle?? (Do you speak English?)"
I understood what he was saying, so said "Oui! j parle aungle" (Yes! I speak English.)
Now driver started in fast French, which was impossible for me to understand or guess. "£%^*&(*(*$£%$"!
I said, "J compre ampu faunce!" (I understand little French )
French guy sitting on front explained to me that, driver will go out and look for another bus to carry tourist to destination. He want me to explain same to passengers as most of them were non-French tourist.
I said,"J compre. I understand. I will do it!"

I stand up and announced clearly to everybody,"Hello all, bus is not working properly. Our drive is going to bring another bus for us to go to Rennes bus station. Please wait for him. He think he will come back in 5-10 minutes. Don't worry. Thanks!"
Japaneas couple sitting in 5th row was little worried, they asked, "what wrong with bus and when he is going to come back?"
I said,"Hope so he will be back in 5 minutes with bus! But I don't know whats wrong exactly. Its all electronics more then mechanics in this bus!"
passengers on back side started gossiping on same. I think so all understood the problem.

After 8 minutes, drive came back and with bus. As bus reached near us and drive was visible. Passenger on back benches said in single volume,"Yatto!!" It wasn't so laud but was in sync. I knew the word !! Yes finally ! I repeated with them, "Oui, yatto! Its done!"
We moved out of bus as instructed by driver. While getting into the bus, I said "Merci" to driver, he decently replied with "de rien!! Desole! Merci!". He knew, i can understand these words.

We took the bus and it moved to Rennes train station. We came out and diverted on our own ways. Lot of chinese and japanease touriest started running towards train station as they had already booked the train ticket for 7.10pm train to Paris. I too wanted to catch the same one. But I didn't booked the ticket. I started walking towards the train station in same direction.

I saw the 7year old little girl and her mother. They were sitting next to me in second bus. They were 10-15 meter away. The lady looked at me to bye bye. He bows half and said good bye in Japanease way. I shook my hand toward them and said good bye!! I also saw French couple sitting on front seat. The guy knew me, he waved his hand and said good bye. I did same and said "Good bye!!!"

I managed to buy 62Euro ticket to Paris from Rennes at 8.03pm TGV with help of French guy who was waiting for his brother to come. His brother knew train ticket booking better then him so he asked to his brothers help in booking the ticket. I guess, its costliest train ticket I had ever booked!!! I had no options. I moved to big display waiting to see platform number to come up. It was peaceful journey way back by TGV train. I reached Montparness by 10.20pm. I took metro and reached home by 11pm.

Was too tired and sleepy. I managed to upload 2-3 pics on Facebook and went to bed! It was long long day!

Apartment search in Paris

First thing come to mind, its not so easy. "C 'est pas tres facile!" and its going to be very very costly!
I'm writing this blog considering you as new to the city. Paris- awesome city with sparkling lights and beautiful girls. But behind every French face, there are things they do for living and compenciating the cost of living in Paris.

First and most important of it is finding good home in Paris. Its slow and long process!

Step 1.
Roam around the town to figure out good area for you. Consider locality and living in place.
a. Like if you consider cheap is good. Look for sub-urban area in district 92, 98, 95, 20 and so on.
b. If you are ok to live in little dirty but close to city centre with 75XXX as postal code. Look for Barbes, La Chappel, Gare de Nord area. 750 09, 10, 18
c. If you love to see Eiffel tower everyday, wish to spend few more bucks and find place in district 750 08,07,06,15, 16
d. If you love latin districts, look for area 750 05, 06, 14
e. Remember to consider your place of work for location. Its very important to have place near by your work location.

Step 2.
Now you decided couple of areas which are ok for you to live.
Start search with online site given below:
Remember, all agency's ask for the fees to book the apartment for you. You have to go via agency if you don't know much in Paris. Its usually around 1 month rent of the apartment. But it varies with agency and conditions.

In French but its easy if you use language translator. Refer to direct posts from owners and so you can save 1 month agency fees. Its easy that way. But its again complicated to arrange meet with owner and proof you are the one who can pay the rent on time and have enough money to feed his apartment.

Keep contacting as many owners as possible and see the apartment. Its like keep on hitting the balls in dark so finally you may have one of them hitting the target. Keep applying to apartment which are good for you.
I feel, few apartment owners are too arrogant to choose their tenant as if they are choosing the son-in-law (gendre) ! Its funny but owner may ask you :

How old you are
Family or living alone
what is your income
Letter from company where you work
Guarantee for payment of rent
How long you live in Paris
What contract you have with company
bla
bla

I feel its none of their business. But as you know 'Beggar don't have choices!!' . He can't choose if to get 1 coin or 10 coins! Its same way here. You are a beggar and your boss is apartment owner.

Don't be afraid and share all info to apartment owner.

Now its wait and watch game. Owner is going to check all list of application and choose the final strongest contestant to be his tenant.

I imagine this like a animal matting game. Its usual case in dogs, snakes and lions! If the female want to have sex with male from her own species. She send a specific kind of scent/aroma in nature. All interested males goes to the common place where she would be waiting for them to arrive. Now, poor and little ones goes away as they don't dare to fight with strong contestants. Even sometime female could be strong enough for them to handle. Strong one come face to face to show the fist of their jaws! They understand the strongest one and he is declared as the winner by female. I guess, its usual case in all species except humans. Humans go with weird kind of selection.

Ooops, I'm goes away from root topic. So, Owner will finally choose the best person to be his tenant.

They will have to do formal things like, creating the agreement with help of lawyer, arrange agency fees if any, handover of apartment, list of working and non working furniture and instruments in apartment.

Along with it tenant has to sign the insurance for apartment. Matmut is good one to do it.

Finally, you gets the key to apartment and start shifting to new home!!!

I may write another blog on home shifting in Paris. I understand it well the complication and depth in such activities. Experience is the best way to understand things!!! Hope you get it just by reading ;)

Toilets in Paris

Today, I make confession that, I broke few rules of general public hygiene in Paris!! I guess, doing pee at public place is considered so! That too, near GREATEST ICON of the city!

From last 2-3 years, I have been visiting Paris for work purpose. Unarguably its one the most fascinating, beautiful city of the world. The City of Lights, city of Fashion, bla bla ..

In my obvious observation, i could see long long queues to get in toilets.
I understand that, French people don't go to toilet and they have developed huge capacity to just control it until they reach home. So, its like don't drink a drop of water and keep your hand crossed till you reach your home! Its indeed said too too bad if someone goes for toilet to friends home. Its under Very bad manners!!
Discovering a public toilet is really difficult job when you are really on edge of pouring out some water. I'm sure beer drinkers knows it very well. I guess, that the reason why I don't see many French people drinking beer on public places or roads.

Here you can find the toilet. I 'm sure google map should show the signs with public toilets on it. Its the most important thing in Paris. I'm afraid google didn't did it. http://maps.google.fr/maps?rlz=1C1SKPL_enFR451FR451&q=Toilet shows no such place.

So, the story goes like this. One upon the time ... February'2010 or 2009! My apartment was located very close the Icon of Paris- Eiffel Tower. I was staying with my friends. We planned to visit Pantheon and on way back I lost him and cut my way towards the apartment via Gardens of the Luxemburg. My rectum was full of liquid and I wanted to pour it out urgently. I walked the way from small lanes from Musee de Army - Invalids.

It was around 7 pm. It use to be dark by 5pm in Paris in Winter days. I was searching for public toilets on the way. I knew, there are couple of them near Eiffel tower. I walked by Gardens near Eiffel tower and searched for the lonely standing toilet on the corner of road towards Bir Hakim metro station. I was very happy to found the destiny of the moment!! I reached the place and started pressing button to open the door. But my bad luck, it wasn't opening. I could barely read on side wall of toilets. Its open in limited hours only. If I'm not wrong, from 8am to 1pm and 2 pm to 6.30pm. (I was wondering if some French guy is working inside to make this as working hours! Hope it works on Weekends ;) ) This was terrific discovery for me. Shocking one !! Oops!
I got another shot when I couldn't find my apartment key in my over coat. I thought it was with me but it wasn't. It was with my friend and we didn't had mobile connection to call and confirm if he had reached the apartment. That was another bug shock for me !!!
Being Indian, I 'm very optimistic to find the way around to meet the need. It was bit deserted evening. I could hardly see people roaming around the garden area of Eiffel. That was the moment, I found the other way, bushy area around the garden was good option. There was small store which was close and could give me good place to do pee. I moved in the bush to find the covering space and got poured out all the liquid ammonia from my rectum to soil of France. I was looking up toward the great Eiffel tower. I wish Mr Eiffel had created few public toilets near Eiffel tower. I would have been much more thankful to him!!!

I suppose, this could be also reason why metro station staircase and deserted places smell bad. Someone must be in urgent sometime to release the pressure on time! Its all about the time.

Last note: Toilets in Europe are uni-sex. They usually don't have ladies and gents toilets as separate. You may find a women and men doing pee on same row and waiting release their enormous pressure !! :)

Halloween in Paris

It was 31st Oct'2011 Monday. I didn't knew if it was Halloween. I went to office as usual way and came back in evening at my apartment.

The door bell rang at evening time. Its very rarely to have unexpected visitors in Paris. We were quite surprized to see the visitor. I opened the door. I could found 3 little cute adorable girls with cute devil makeup and dress! Someone would have hardly scared to see them. They were carrying lots of sweats and chocolates in carry bag with them. They kept on showing me the bag and asking for something. I couldn't understand what they wanted to say. There were 2 younger girls who could understand that I don't speak French.
Somehow, I manage to say, "Je ne parle pas Francais! Je parle anglais."
They told me the way they celebrate Halloween. Kids are suppose to visit all residents and they should give sweats and chocolates to kids. That is kind of gift to kids for Halloween dressing! I barely said, Happy Halloween and asked them to wait for 1 min.
I went inside and brought a large chocolate and handed it over to Little girls who was showing me her chocolate bag! It was nice feeling to make smile on those adorable faces!
Eventually, I missed joining some party outside for Halloween celebrations but could enjoy small part of Halloween. I was still great!!!

We had many such visitors from evening time but kids were not speaking English so it was impossible to guess if its Halloween! I should keep track of such celebrations in Paris.

Existing System	System Proposed by civil society
No politician or senior officer ever goes to jail despite huge evidence because Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) and CBI directly come under the government. Before starting investigation or prosecution in any case, they have to take permission from the same bosses, against whom the case has to be investigated.	Lokpal at centre and Lokayukta at state level will be independent bodies. ACB and CBI will be merged into these bodies. They will have power to initiate investigations and prosecution against any officer or politician without needing anyone's permission. Investigation should be completed within 1 year and trial to get over in next 1 year. Within two years, the corrupt should go to jail.
No corrupt officer is dismissed from the job because Central Vigilance Commission, which is supposed to dismiss corrupt officers, is only an advisory body. Whenever it advises government to dismiss any senior corrupt officer, its advice is never implemented.	Lokpal and Lokayukta will have complete powers to order dismissal of a corrupt officer. CVC and all departmental vigilance will be merged into Lokpal and state vigilance will be merged into Lokayukta.
No action is taken against corrupt judges because permission is required from the Chief Justice of India to even register an FIR against corrupt judges.	Lokpal & Lokayukta shall have powers to investigate and prosecute any judge without needing anyone's permission.
Nowhere to go - People expose corruption but no action is taken on their complaints.	Lokpal & Lokayukta will have to enquire into and hear every complaint.
There is so much corruption within CBI and vigilance departments. Their functioning is so secret that it encourages corruption within these agencies.	All investigations in Lokpal & Lokayukta shall be transparent. After completion of investigation, all case records shall be open to public. Complaint against any staff of Lokpal & Lokayukta shall be enquired and punishment announced within two months.
Weak and corrupt people are appointed as heads of anti-corruption agencies.	Politicians will have absolutely no say in selections of Chairperson and members of Lokpal & Lokayukta. Selections will take place through a transparent and public participatory process.
Citizens face harassment in government offices. Sometimes they are forced to pay bribes. One can only complaint to senior officers. No action is taken on complaints because senior officers also get their cut.	Lokpal & Lokayukta will get public grievances resolved in time bound manner, impose a penalty of Rs 250 per day of delay to be deducted from the salary of guilty officer and award that amount as compensation to the aggrieved citizen.
Nothing in law to recover ill gotten wealth. A corrupt person can come out of jail and enjoy that money.	Loss caused to the government due to corruption will be recovered from all accused.
Small punishment for corruption- Punishment for corruption is minimum 6 months and maximum 7 years.	Enhanced punishment - The punishment would be minimum 5 years and maximum of life imprisonment.

1.Who is Anna Hazare?

An ex-army man(Unmarried). Fought 1965 Indo-Pak war.

2.What's so special about him?

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra.

3.This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills. In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

4. This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

5. He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

6. How that can be possible?

He is advocating for a Bill, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), bureaucrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

7. It's an entirely new thing right..?

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit their theft (corruption).

8. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time? The first thing he is asking for is: the govt should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed. Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50% government participation and 50% public participation. Bcoz u can't trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

9.What will happen when this bill is passed?

A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished.

India against corruption

It was lonely day. Raining heavily still streets were full of water and commuters travelling. I decided to come out in support with Anna Hazare's fast to pass Jan-Lokpal bill. I took public transport to reach Andheri station and by fast local train to Churchgate station. I preferred to walk to Azad maidan tent near CST station.

I found the major camp of police outside entrance to Azad maidan tent. I was bit nervous to join the place, however managed to go inside and took the support card and pin which can be hanged to your chest and show you are as part of "isupportIndiaAgaistCorrution"! After a while, I feel normal as people around keep on supporting everybody to support Anna.

People were shouting specific slogans to make they don't harm anyone while supporting Anna Hazare.
Vande Matram !
Bharat mata ki Jai !
etc etc

At around 3 pm, group of young dump and deaf supporter joined the place. I loved to see their energy and emotions to support India against corruption. It was amazing.

Best part is, they can't speak but express their desire strong by, raising both hands up and shaking fingers !!
Group of some 40-50 guys doing this at same time was great stuff. Awesome. I feel, if some handicap can manage to come in such bad rains then why can't a normal Indian come forward and stay on road to support the cause!

He once contemplated suicide and even wrote a two-page essay on why he wanted to end his life. Anna Hazare was not driven to such a pass by circumstances. He wanted to live no more because he was frustrated with life and wanted an answer to the purpose of human existence.

The story goes that one day at the New Delhi Railway Station, he chanced upon a book on Swami Vivekananda. Drawn by Vivekananda's photograph, he is quoted as saying that he read the book and found his answer - that the motive of his life lay in service to his fellow humans.

Today, Anna Hazare is the face of India's fight against corruption. He has taken that fight to the corridors of power and challenged the government at the highest level. People, the common man and well-known personalities alike, are supporting him in the hundreds swelling to the thousands.

For Anna Hazare, it is another battle. And he has fought quite a few, Including some as a soldier for 15 years in Indian Army. He enlisted after the 1962 Indo-China war when the government exhorted young men to join the Army.

In 1978, he took voluntary retirement from the 9th Maratha Battalion and returned home to Ralegaon Siddhi, a village in Maharashtra's drought-prone Ahmadnagar. He was 39 years old.

He found farmers back home struggling for survival and their suffering would prompt him to pioneer rainwater conservation that put his little hamlet on the international map as a model village.

The villagers revere him. Thakaram Raut, a school teacher in Ralegaon Siddhi says, "Thanks to Anna's agitations, we got a school, we got electricity, we got development schemes for farmers.''

Anna Hazare's fight against corruption began here. He fought first against corruption that was blocking growth in rural India. His organization - the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan (People's movement against Corruption). His tool of protest - hunger strikes. And his prime target - politicians.

Maharashtra stalwarts like Sharad Pawar and Bal Thackeray have often called his style of agitation nothing short of "blackmail".

But his weapon is potent. In 1995-96, he forced the Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra to drop two corrupt Cabinet Ministers. In 2003, he forced the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state government to set up an investigation against four ministers. In April this year, four days of fasting brought thousands of people out in support of his crusade against corruption. They also made the government realise it could not be dismissive about Anna Hazare and his mass appeal.

His relationship with the UPA government continues to be uneasy. The truce of April was short-lived. An exercise to set up a joint committee made up of equal numbers of government representatives and civil society activists, including Anna Hazare came to naught when the two sides failed to agree and drafted two different Lok Pal Bills. The government has brought its version in Parliament and Team Anna is livid.

The Gandhian is soldiering on. From one battle to another in his war against corruption. He fought from the front to have Right to Information (RTI) implemented. He is now fighting for the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill, the anti-corruption bill drafted by his team of crusaders.

This year, more than 30 years after Anna Hazare started his crusade, as the 74-year-old plans a second hunger strike in Delhi against large-scale corruption at the national level. Nothing really has changed except the scale of his battle.

I left office at around 7.00 pm. It was usual evening. I walked to nearest bus stand and travelled to Marol depot to catch direct regular bus to Airoli. As I reached bit early than usual peak hours, it was no crowded. I got call from my friend at 7.15 asking my where about. He asked me to stay and wait in office as bomb blasts have just rocked the Mumbai! Hell, it was shocking news for me. I googled the news on mobile but didn’t showed any update as it was very fresh news and media had not grasped & posted any content on web.

I asked fellow commuters in line. One of them knew about the bomb spots.
1. Zaberi Bazzar – Prime Diamond merchandize place in Mumbai
2. Opera House/Khau galli – Charni road, Open place with crowd.
3. Kabutar khana – Dadar. Very crowded place in evening

Important observation from somebody revealed that it was Kasab’s Birthday and Terrorist group wanted to give him the birthday gift in such a terrific way. Eyebrows are raised on questions like
1. Why Kasab is still not hanged?
2. Does he believe in our justice system? Its infact, biggest shame for us to not punish him on time! It’s been 2 years.
3. Why governments take action on Kasab case?
4. Why governments don’t have enough security, cameras, CCTV and high tech securities inspite of repeated bomb blasts in high end place like Zaveri bazaar?
5. Why Home ministry says, “it’s not Intelligence failure!”? Rather Mumbaikar’s say “Its huge shame!”

Citizens of India need results and not just reports and committees to analyze the impact of bomb blast! As usual Government announces 2 to 5 lakh rupees compensation to deaths and about 50K ruppes to injured people. Is it enough for somebody’s wife? or Somebody’s mother? or Someone’s brother? Somebody lost their only son in their old age and left newly married wife behind. Can government money cheque of 5 lakh going to give them their dear ones?
Questions of last terror attack are still unanswered! It’s futile to expect more from government when they can’t fulfill our promises. Forget the growth; we need basic livelihood and security to our lives while living in Mumbai!!

Mumbai Bomb Blasts: 13 july’2011

Today 13 july’2011, it was another black day in history of the Maximum city-Mumbai. I thought to make regular blog on experiences on travelling in Mumbai city. 3 bomb blasts rocked the city which caused death of more than 21 people and injured about 130 people.

I woke up late in morning at 8.40 am. I had to reach in office around 12.00. I was living in Airoli-New Mumbai area. Airoli is bit old style peaceful area with native Mumbai people living in small houses. As it was was hardly 10 min walk to Bus depot, I decided to walk my way to Bus depot from my place. It was just another Wednesday for me. I carried “Mumbai Mirror” news paper to read while travelling my way to office in Andheri-east. After hardly waiting for 5 minutes, I managed to get the 10.20am direct bus to SEEPS, Andheri-E bus number 545.

We were hardly 10 people in bus. I can still remember faces. Lady with dark blue silk saadi with her husband was sitting in front of my seat. Few guys with office dress to catch their office time. Noticeable person was old drunkard sitting on very first sit close to front door (The seat is reserved for handicaps only. In fact, such a drunkard was greatest handicap in bus!). He had few strong drinks of local alcohol and was continuously chit-chatting with bus driver in loud voice. He was repeating, “Smile and make others smile!”! For most of commuters, it was entertaining. Uncle sitting on next bench was imitating him by giving me look and laughing. It was very strange incidence. It rare happens on long route bus. Drunkard wasn’t sure of where to go. He was shouting to go sometime at Goregaov or Mulund or Andheri. Finally he agreed to go to SEEPZ by taking 14/- Rs ticket and kept his entertainment going. Drivers usually need someone to talk while driving. This makes their work easy. Eventually, bus moved to Nahur village area and starting gathering more crowd on the way. Still it was below normal. Drunkard was exhausted by shouting his words and fell slept on this reserved bench.
I started reading Mumbai Mirror after completing Sudoku and Loop puzzles on second last page of newspaper. It has been my hobby since couple of years. I was at SEEPZ by 11.40 and reached office on my time. Day and work at office was just fine. We had couple of meetings, calls with mates and teams. As most of work load was well shared among the team, it was altogether good day.

Paris to Mumbai 3rd time!

Two days ago news headlines was showing bad weather reports for the day. Air France and most of airlines were running in late or functioning badly. Chales De Goule airport was down. Winter came suddently to make French lifes difficult. Metro & RER local trains were running late or were not functioning well. Many people had to sleep in cars as roads were filled up with snow. People were not ready for the change so suddenly. Car tire changing is always necessary before winter. In fact, some people had to stay in subways and cars to survive the cold.

It was 11^th December'2011, i was suppose to reach on flight in morning 10 am. On day before, I tried hard to get taxi booking. All of the taxi services rejected request to take morning reservation. Finally, I decided to get any taxi while on the way. I got up early and stated moving! Couldn't found a single taxi on the way, most of taxies were parked or busy to attend me. I walked to nearest railway station Duplex with my friend. I had metro pass for zone 1 and 2 so I took metro Denfer Rouchor to get direct RER train to CDG International Airport. I reached Denfer Rouchour by 8.15 am, was running short of time to reach Airport. My metro pass was not valid to go Airport, so I joined the queue to get the ticket. It was figure of 8.70 Euro. I had couple to big notes of 20, 50, 100 Euro so had no worry about money. But to my surprise, ticketing machine had "no input" take notes. Hell!! I checkout few coins I had. I started putting them together to get 8.70 Euro. It was just 7.90 Euro! I had no idea what to do now?? Even if you have money, it hardly helps in such situation!!! You are damm stuck!

I remembered the similar incidence in my last visit to Paris in Feb'2010 with French guys. I was taking RER ticket to reach Champs-de-Mars from Porte-Nuilly-Malliot with my collegues. I was barely able to speak French at that time. French man started asking me if I have spare coin of 10 cents. There was no way they could tell same thing in English. I just spread hands before them showing all coins I was having. They picked up few small coins and said, "Ok?". It was understandable, i said "its ok and left for my journey". One of the guy who could speak a bit of English said, "next time, i pay"! I just said,"merci!". That was only word I could speak properly.

In same way, i found someone who could help me. Young couple behind me where French but fluently speak English. They understood, i 'm facing problem with getting ticket. I asked them, if its possible to insert these notes in machine. Girl was speaking fluent English. She said,"Machine don't take notes, you have insert coins. Let me help you in getting ticket." . She took the charge. She choose French language, asked couple of details about the travel. I told her, I want to go CDG airport. Again, we started putting coins and it stuck at 7.80. I had no more coins. I had few Franks (Currency used in nearby countries. I had saved few while coming for Switzerland in last visit). I showed all available coins to her. She had an Euro coin whic she inserted. Finally, I got the ticket!! hurray! But I had to give exchange of 1 Euro to her. I had no option other than 50 Euro note and few coins of Frank. I tried to give her 5 Franks as exchange. She kept on refusing to take it. She kept on saying."Its ok. Its ok my friend". She finally refused to take any coins. I could only say,"Merci beacoup"!

Somehow I got the right train to airport and catched my flight. Flight and company for journey was good. I spend time chit chatting with Australian uncle and aunty who were also stuck in Paris in snow fall evening. I said, it was bad duing snow night, many of friends had to stay in cars or subways on that night, it was really bad. Aunty couldn't resist herself, she said, "It wasn't bad! We had to walk 2 km on open road to get safe place to stay for night!! That was really bad!" They had to walk 2 kilometer to get to safe place. Vacations were bad experience for them. Girl sitting next to me was French. She could hardly speak any English and was travelling to Sydney. We played "Reversee" game in LAN. Talked few things in French to make her know English place. I found a nice facecut which was good to make a sketch. I made a sketch of her on back side of Passport xerox. It was good timepass as I had seen most of the movies they had in collection. One of the air hostess got the sight on it and she complimentes it well! It was wonderful flight to Abu Dhabi. Journey was good and reached on time for next connecting flight at Abu Dhabi.

I checked for mobile network, got some sms from friends. I came on airport and checking status for my next flight to Mumbai. Oh boy!! it was "delayed"! I asked the Etihad guy, he conveyed message that, its been delayed by 2 hours. Matter of fact, it was delay of 4 hours! I woundered around airport. I did my chocolate shopping. People were really arrogant while taking food. No queue, no manners. Most of them were middle-east uncles. Somehow I checked for compatible food for me and joined the Indian people staying at departing gate. I met some Mumbai guys who were waiting to catch the same flight. Most of them were flying from US via connecting and connecting flights. While waiting for delayed flight, I got couple of calls from friends from India. My roomies were waiting for party and car driver waiting at Mumbai international airport to receive me. I texted him to come on airport after 7am! So, somehow I reached at my place at 8 am instead of 2.30 am !! It was bad but wasn't too bad! I had nice sleepy in morning at my home. It took couple of days to adjust the

My first Winter in Paris

I was lucky to spend initial days of winter in Paris. It was beautiful to see (just to see not to go out in cold :P) the snow falls. Once woke up on wonderful morning to have walk around places near by. Its really beautiful to see the Eiffel tower and snowy gardens.

I was living near Eiffel tower on rue de Federation so I was use to roam around the snowy walkways around the tower. There were very few people around on snowy day. I could see few kid enjoying their school trip. Kids were having fun in such freezing cold. I tool the walk on bridge on river Siene from Eiffel side towards Trocadero. Walked on gardens around Traocadero. Poor statue of nude man was freezing in cold. I reached near place de Kleber. I walked along the Avenue de kleber till Arc de Trumph and turned towards my destination to walk to office.

Those were last few days of my stay in Paris and wanted to enjoy chilling weather and place.

Its fun to play in snow if you are with friends. Having hot coffee is best thing to do while sitting on outside the hotel. Chilling weather and hot coffee is perfect combination. Wonderful thing is French people hardly wait for snow to stop. It always good to carry on your work irrespective of the weather. Its assumed to be variable. But yes, in early winter days, most of people are not ready to for snowy roads. They have to change car tires to be good to go on snowy roads.

Good news for dictionary lovers, improved English dictionary is available for you free on just single on your gtalk chat !

Sometime we just ignore complicated unknown English words by just guessing the meaning. Or we just don't bother to know it. ya, some old guy have said, "Ignorance is better than half knowledge." But why not to get the right complete knowledge when its readily available??

I had worked on below dictionary bot (one of my earlier blog post), as time pass service for my own use. I feel it would be useful for many other.

River Siene Boat trip in Paris

How about somebody shouting at you & calling “thief thief... you stolen my wallet, I’m calling police.” in some unknown foreign language. In reply back you are just smiling & saying “hi, hello, how can I help you?” Etc etc …

It actually happened with me & my friends in Paris while we were waiting in La Seine river boat trip queue. It was dramatic. Let me share this eccentric experience with you all.

It was beautiful evening in world's most beautiful city, Paris. Temperature would be just less than 10 degree Celsius. We planned to go out to have some fun in cold, so decided to have boat trip on Seine River. Boat trip offers nice details for tourists. Ticket charge is some 11Euro, but its worth. I was accompanied by 2 friends, Vineet & Niranjan. We left office on time & took RER to Pont d’Alma & walked to river side near Eiffel tower. It was weekday so less tourists to get tickets. We were lucky to get ticket on the spot. We had no snacks after lunch time so were hungry. So we thought to have something after taking tickets. We took some chocolates & sandwitch at port restaurant. Ladies cook & servants were new in task of making the sandwidth, somehow they managed to make it for us. They were also serving warm wines & coffee to get some warmer feeling for open deck boat visit. But we decided to stick with only sandwitches + water bottle & chocolates. We moved in queue while eating the stuff.

We were only Indians in row on that day. We were chatting about generic French stuff while eating. We were enjoying the good time. Being fast eater, I finished my stuff bit early. I dumped the wastage paper to nearby dustbin. Then had sip of water & enjoying eye sight. Other two also finished their stuff & were ready to join me. We use to do most of conversation in Hindi or Marathi to add some privacy & encryption. I had water bottle which was left with last sip of water. I finished it & dumped the empty crashed water bottle.

There were 2-3 Chinese people in front of us. We didn't even bother to notice them as we were gossiping in our own language & mood. The small Chinese guy started shouting all of sudden. He started checking my pockets. He was checking the crashed water bottle in dustbin. He was totally acting as mad, psycho man. I thought this guy want to have cigarette & is asking for something to light to cigarette. It’s very common in Paris to share lighter in public places. But none of us smokes so I said,”Pordon, no light.” Another tall Chinese guy came in front & started checking my jacket’s pocket. They were looking more aggressive now! None of us understood their language. There was huge group of Chinese people in queue. All of sudden they all started shouting. Even the tall guy got grip of my arm. Small Chinese guy took on Niranjan. Now we were furious. We started calling for help!! I also escaped my hand from that thin tall man's grip. Chinese public were shouting loudly so we were like in huge group of Chinese. We were always saying, “Can some translate what they are saying in English??”

There was a couple behind us in row who were looking like Chinese. I asked them, “Do you understand what this man is trying to say? Can you please translate this for us? It seems they are shouting non-sensibly”, Fact was couple was Japanese & they didn't understand anything what Chinese people said.

Here were we. All trapped in group of Chinese.

None of them actually understand a word of English or French. I had tried few words in French too.

They were hold each of use on arms. Although they were thin looking, quantity was more than quality fighters. If we would have gone for fight, I was sure to kick 3-4 with my pace & the adrenaline which was paced up at that moment. But we were bound to French laws, so we kept our calm & temper to coolest possible level. Hell!!

As all Chinese gang started shouting, we also started shouting & called the security nearby. One of the Chinese interpreters came to the scene. She was saying, “We have a problem here!”. It was like movie scene, a beautiful French security girl came up like an angel. She was amazing. For a second, we were (all of us 3 guys) starting at her, no matter what situation was but we were deep somewhere else on bank of river Seine. I can't imagine if such so angle looking girls ever go security. Important thing was she knew English.

Angel started talking, “Guys, don't worry.”

I said, “We don’t understand, what’s happening. What these guys are saying?”

Little Chinese guy still had grip on my friends arms. He was not listening to us. I help my friend to get rid of him.

Angel said, “Chinese guy has lost his wallet & his passport from his bag.”

We were surprised. We said, “But then why he is pulling us in this”

Angel again kept the calm, “I’m really sorry for the inconvenience. But these Chinese guys doubt on you guys.”

Chinese lady interpreter was now listening to Angle carefully. So, we were also catching here words.

She continued after looking at Chinese lady, “See. You have to understand this thing. We can do complete checking of these guys (mean we 3) if little Chinese guys is sure that these guys have stolen the wallet. There are no video cameras around & we don’t know what had happened. But to clause to this is, they have to call police before they do checking. Calling police also means, if the blame is false, Chinese guys have to pay 1000Euro to as fine.”

Chinese lady carefully translated whole story to those 2 Chinese guys. As soon as they heard 1000Euro, they released my friends arm. They were shocked & much calmer then before. Poor guy was not sure who exactly did this to him.

Meanwhile, another man from security came up & said, “I’m very sure, there 3 guys have not done anything. I'm sure of this. They just finished their sandwitch & dumped the waste & water bottle in dustbin. Are these Chinese guys sure if they have really stolen his wallet? Then & then we should call police.”

Now I was happy from inside. Let’s call police & make things more troublesome for these Chinese guys. I started removing my leather jacket. I said politely, “Do you want to do my checkup. Please do it now. I don’t have any problem”. I removed the jacket & kept in my hands. I also shown them my wallet & said, “Is this wallet belongs to this guy?” All of us were furious now. We got charged all of sudden. What the hell is this? This guy is not sure, when he lost his wallet & now he is shouting at us. It’s non-sense. I was charged enough to hit that Chinese guy. As it would have been my obvious reaction if same thing would have had happened in India!!

Angel again came in to discussion,”Please sir, we apologies for this mess. We are really sorry for this! Please wear your jacket”. I wouldn't have minded if she would have asked me to remove the shirt :D . Although, the temperature was below 10 degree & just removing the leather jacket would easily make you feel that cold. I put on my jacket & tried to calm down. All of us were angry on Chinese guys! They had changed these ways. Both Chinese were asked to go out of line. Their interpreter took care of them. They were also asked not to harm us by any mean.

Security girl & man repeated asked for apologies to us. We said, its ok ma’am! But we were actually feeling bad, damage was already done. We had lost the mood of fun. Chinese guys never came to boat for sightseeing. We hardly enjoyed the ride. had also lost the mood of trip. We hardly managed to take some pictures and then moved to our place.

Paris is really beautiful at night view. I was listening to boat trip dictation story of Monalisa painting. It’s said that, servant of king was asked to keep the painting with him as per Queen's order. Queen was jealousy of King’s attraction towards painting. Servant kept the painting below his bed for 3 years!! He was caught & painting was again placed in King's prestigious paintings. Same story repeated by a curator. Curator fell in love with Monalisa & he replaced the painting with fake one. It is said that, he was caught & paintings originality is verified & it’s placed again in Lourve museum. So was the Monalisa. Still many historians are not sure if the painting is real or fake. But fact is we just love to see her. It’s most crowded place in entire Lourve Musee.

complexity in using the system makes it difficult for normal intruders to hack abnormal systems.

Actual Bandwidth

Bandwidth is seen as very relative term in daily usage. Even the small internet cafe owner keeps on saying, too less bandwidth so speed is slow.

I just tried to measure it while i was moving around the place.

Here is screen shot of Gprs speed with Airtel Mobile office APN in Banglore ! 72 kbps is great in roaming.

Another speed test on my desktop using Tata Photon+ . I must agree Tata is giving best speed as compared to any other USB data cards. Reliance is poor in this. Even connection problems are very common with Reliance USB data cards.

It was final test run directly using direct LAN ssh tunnel. Speed is good!

Funny thing is, i tested the same again in Mumbai when I was back to home. It was showing me mere 10 to 15 kpbs !!! I know, it could be due to HLR registry OR routing problem .... Most imp, it was raining badly in Mumbai at that time. Airtel is always in trouble with rains & fires. It was totally messed up when once of Airtel MSC was under fire! In fact, many prepaid users were able to make free calls for many days!!! :D

Will keep on posting on new finding.

Google celebrated Pacman's 30th anniversary by putting java script based pacman game with google designed walls. "I'm feeling lucky" was replaced by "Insert coin". It was interesting stuff.

I played it for a while. Clearing 2-3 rounds was easy. Its always interesting to play the very first version of pacman in dos window. It was the most easiest & wonderful game.

How I carried the Swiss knife in cabin bag (unknowingly)?

It was Air France return flight to Mumbai AF 218. Departure time 10.50 hours, I was already late in dropping the baggage in. Police checking was bit tough & lengthy. Many passengers going to Africa were crying due to same “delay” reason. I was only late guy in queue who was supposed to be boarded at 10.10 am, time was 10.30am & I was still in Police cabin bag checkup. They were going in same lazy way at Paris airport.

Immigration aitport checkout stamping hardly took any time as my record was pretty clean. I asked a security guy to promote myself to go ahead as it was too late for me. French security guy told me straight way,”sir, its same for everybody, you have to wait!” Oops!

At Paris Airport bag checkup:

I was carrying a 2 bags, 1 bag has all cloths. Another had laptop & some art books to read on the way back. I really hate AF; I had really bad experience with AF, which you can read in my earlier blog. Coming back to cabin bag checkup, the bag which had Swiss knife!

Security guy said asked me to re pass the laptop bag. Security sensor has given him some indication that there is something fishy but he has still confused. I was still asking him to finish it fast as I had to catch the flight as soon as, it was just 15 min to take off!!! He rechecked my laptop bag, but couldn’t figured out what wrong. I had worn my belt & shoes, was ready to catch my flight. But, police man asked me to stay back to clear laptop bag.

I was opening all zips of laptop bag, policeman shouted, “Don’t touch your bag sir. Please stay away from bag. We need to check it”. I was bit confused, what’s wrong? I was still shouting I ‘ll miss my flight. C’mon ask someone to check my bag. I don’t anything wrong. I‘m just carrying some books & electronic stuff, nothing more! Pls make it quick.

Lady on next desk came to check my bag manually. I helped her to show the stuff. There was a towel, laptop charger & painting books. It was all packed up at last moment. I was still confused what’s wrong with my bag. I was carrying some eye drop medicines which I showed to police lady. She finally agreed & said “it’s alright!” They talked something in French & asked me to go. I run & catch my flight at gate C87; some guy was announcing my name & seat number L24. I ran on plan entrance & was on my seat just before 10 minutes before the take off. Cabin crew guy was happy to see me & said, “Mr. Tipale, you are welcome. We are happy to see you hear, whatever reason you are late, I don’t want to know.” I was muttering,” pardon, pardon!”

At Mumbai Airport bag checkup:

I had nice flight back to Mumbai. There is law by which your baggage came out from any Airport. It’s LIFO-Last in First out! First check-in remains the last. So, I got my bag at #1. I was happy to see my Blue colored Polo Star bag. I was first in custom checking queue. Custom guy was looking for liquor bottles in bag. I had nothing much catchy for him. He found something doubtful in same laptop bag,

he asked me,”wapas daal uss bag ko, kuch to bhi layer jaisa hai” (put that bag again, something like layers are there on laptop.)

I said,”okey, let’s check it again sir”

I pushed my bag to check again.

He wasn’t happy much. Shouted,”yaar, tera laptop nikal ke wapas daal. Thada clear ho jayega.” (Friend, remove your laptop & push the bag again.)

I just remove my laptop & pushed bag to recheck. People from back started shouting,”ab laptop bhi nikalana hai kya edhar.” I replied,”Nahi bhai, it’s for me only”

This time he was satisfied. He still wanted to see “thing which was looking like layers”. I just pulled out my art books to shown him. He understood. He asked me to go by saying,”Thik hai yaar, koi problem nahi. Ja sakate ho.” & I moved on.

At my home in Mumbai:

After coming to my place, I was searching for my key chain, which has all my keys (my flat, my room, office drawers, some more locks). After a day I found the key chain with Swiss knife was in my cabin baggage-Laptop bag’s side pockets. I was shocked!!!

At my Mind:

OMG, I carried a well known weapon in cabin. It helped me understood, “how gang of 4-5 terrorist can easily plan a complete hijacking of the flight?” No some seems to recognize the part of gun or knife if carried separately in large cabin bags.

Anyways I was in no mood to hijack AF flight. I just don’t hate them so much although they delayed my luggage by 3 days in Paris! I love them for providing only direct flight from Mumbai to Paris & back. Thanks for all. I wish they could add more security checks at airport. This is too easy for any terrorist to break airport security. Even they are working on things to work out with bio-weapons. It’s really scary but would be challenging to fight!

With launch in G Buzz, there are many social n/w playground.
Funny thing is, Buzz 3rd party integration just says, ur twits will be shown on buzz.. but it didnt work :( .. buggy google... sad to say but true!

Googles bad habit of launching products in beta n making them bug free with help of users.. are we the gunny pigs to experiment on ??? i forgive G ! just a favour for providing so many free services ;-) never mind G!

I wondering how long it'll take to update my status each time on all of the sites ! its really bad idea to do it manually on all sites..

1. How to add to facebook status : Search twitter in search box of Fb. u 'll cool twitter icon.. just get the app for Fb.. u ;ll be prompted with twitter login & check for settings to update your status from twitter. DONE !!

This web service will read ur latest twit on regular basis (currently its checking on half hourly basis ) & updates ur Gtalk status ! The itself is cool enough to say that.
Once gtalk status is updated. Buzz too get gtalk profile text to update. G has done it properly.

One can simply find our Oracle's (earlier Sun's, although i'm not too happy to say non-open oracle) OpenOffice ! U can convert any doc, ppt, xls to pdf file.

Now comes the important part of protecting the document.

I was flying back from Paris Charles De Goule airport. While waiting in boarding queue, i found a English guy reading 'Shantaram'.
I asked him.'Hey, have u finished reading shantaram'!
'Not yet, i'll soon finish it. Its nice book'
'Yes. I have read it once. Its really wonderful book with pace & every details'
he accepted, 'yeah, right!'
I tried to check how much he remember about Shataram,'So, hows Karla, Khader, linbaba? Do you like them?'
Surprisingly said,'You know all of them!!Good. Karla is good, mysterious beauty & soul. Its good story!'
We discsussed few more thing like, where are you flying & bla bla..

It was good to see someone who knows & think as you are thinking...at such unexpected time :-)"

Michael Widenius, the creator of the MySQL server, one of the most widely used and popular open software software, is now asking for everyone's help to keep it that way.

With the imminent takeover of Sun by Oracle, a move which will put the MySQL server in the direct hands of it's competitor Oracle, the future of the MySQL server will be jeopardy. While it is an open source project and the community is free to continue development of a fork, it will have to be under a different name, and names matter.

MySQL is a reputed database server and while there may be many forks of the server available in the community already, many which may offer better features of better speed, the MySQL server is definitely the most widely favoured and used.

MySQL has also supported a commercial license which is attractive for enterprise customers who need professional supported software. MySQL Enterprise makes the server available under a proprietary license and with support.

Michael claims that considering that Oracle is the developer of competing technologies, it has a huge incentive to discontinue further development of MySQL as on open source software. The absence of MySQL as a free open source solution contender which is constantly developed is sure to tilt the scales towards Oracle's own database solutions.

If Oracle does pull the plug on MySQL, Michael believes that simply forking the project will not be enough to keep the project alive, as only the GPL code could be forked, and not the economy around it. In a previous blog post, he mentions two ways that MySQL could be killed:

* If they stop selling licenses of MySQL or price them really high.
* If the development resources of MySQL are drastically reduced. (Considering that most of the development of MySQL is not done by the community but Sun)

He also goes on to explain why simply creating a fork will not work.

While MySQL will continue to exist as on open source software no matter what Oracle does with it, it will no longer be a competitor, which is Oricle's biggest gain. In order for it to survive Oracle he believes they should promise the following:

* To keep (all of) MySQL under an open source license
* Not to add closed source parts, modules or required tools.
* To not raise MySQL license or MySQL support prices
* To release new MySQL versions in a regular and timely manner.
* To continue with dual licensing and always provide affordable commercial licenses to MySQL to those who needs them (to storage vendors and application vendors) or provide MySQL under a more permissive license
* To develop MySQL as an Open Source project
* To actively work with the community
* Apply submitted patches in a timely manner
* To not discriminate patches that make MySQL compete more with Oracles other products
* To ensure that MySQL is improved also in manners that make it compete even more with Oracles' main offering.

He advocates that anyone who has gained from the MySQL project try to stop this acquisition at it's last barrier, the approval from the EU -- which seems to be more wary of the effects this might have. The power of open source is such that it is difficult to kill a project such as MySQL, however it is quite easy to remove its competitive influence, and that is what Michael and the EU are worried about.

Need not to mention Eiffel, Triumph arc, Lourve (Monalisa, Venus statue, many beautiful sculptures & paintings)
Few more special places to see : Nort de dam, Opera, Orsay, Museum, Art de Material Museum, Pigalle (red area), boat trip in seine river from Port Alma (near Eiffel base), Invalides & Museum Army, Grand Arc(La Defence- good place for shopping). There are many more local areas you must visit !

Food :
Good for pizza, pasta lovers. Be careful if you don't want to find uncooked meat in food. You can find plenty of Italian stuff as well Chinese, Korean & Susi restaurants are available.
For veggies : “poulet“ mean chicken, see red, blue mark on food packet before eating. Blue is for fish, red u know.
Never miss to take some perfumes, as France is home of world trade of perfumes.
India restaurants in Paris : Don't expect same too spicy food as people eat in India. Its still like it was 10-20 years before.
Desserts : you 'll find awesome deserts in Paris. Its specialty of France to have yummy chocolates & cheesy cream.

Wine: If you didn't taste it in Paris, you missed the best! Get some Bordeaux wine (don't pronounce in English, just say “bordo” ). There are many more wines you can try out.
Pastis : Another special local drink of France. Its taste very good but be aware of 45% alcohol percentage! It gives nice kick.

if you want to see India in Paris, visit La chapelle ! You 'll get lot of India stuff & brands. Ready made chapati, roti, vegetables, calling cards, ready to eat stuff & rice place. You can easily find some kannada, tamil magazine too. You can figure out how this place is Indian on first sight. Lesser rules & regulation. More shops with names like “Madras, Tirupathi, Balaji, etc etc”. You simply have advantage in bargain or too find places if you use tamil to communicate with locals.

Shantaram - Shantaram Kisan Kharre.

Shantaram is a very lively book and touches vast canvass. It captures Bombay’s life, sponsored terrorism and deals with unified Islamic power also. It deals with refugee problems, it tackles slums, it covers human trafficking, it shows police atrocities and it describes illegal trades also. Mystery, drugs, sex and violence etc are parts of the plot and bounty of human emotions like love, hate, intrigues etc, are also there and faith and miracles also occupy a place in the plot. Its like combining Shidney Sheldon and Paulo Coelho. I think its much more interesting than both of these.
This is a pity that neither any Hindi cinema director could pick up this interesting book nor any big Hindi cinema producer could buy the rights to make a film on this wonderful book. Johnny Depp is doing what biggies of hindi cinema should have done.
To do full justice with this subject one has to have the capability to maintain international treatment of the subject and at same time Indian flavor should not be lost because that is the basic ground beneath the subject.
Right casting is very important in such a vast subject.

0. Main character Lindsay, Linbaba aka Shantaram :
Demands an actor like Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp who could look tough at times and who could also handle emotions well. Johnny Depp is playing the central character. He has vulnerability to do full justice to this role.
The name came after his simple indian mother Rukhminbai Kisan Kharre , mother of close friend Prabhakar.

1. Khader Bhai:
Amitabh Bachchan has rightly been selected to play this character. Khader Bhai basically belongs to a ruler family of an Afgan tribe. He controls the organised crime in Bombay. He is powerful, mysterious and yet so many times he looks so humane whenever he is filled with emotions only, towards his dear ones. Different facets of his character are revealed slowly in the book. His character consists of many twists and its difficult for Lindsay to define him in clear cut black and white category. It has more shades and this character has more relevance in modern times because of his association with Islamic powers trying to make a union. His life, from childhood to his death, demands a separate film.
David might have created character of Khader Bhai , the Mafia boss, on the basis of some real life mafia dons of Bombay but he certainly had kept personality (may be on screen persona) of Amitabh Bachchan in his mind while defining traits of this character. While reading the book, it seems at so many places that Amitabh is present in the book in the form of Khader Bhai.

2. Prabhakar :
He is a young (24-25 years old) Indian tourist guide with whom Lindsay meets as soon as he gets down from the bus after reaching to Bombay. Prabhakar is very important character in the book as he is the first person who introduces Lindsay to India and Indian realities. Prabhakar takes Lindsay to his village in the interior of Maharashtra and where Lindsay actually gets the name Shantaram from Prabhakar’s mother. Prabhakar is first Indian friend of Shantaram. Through Prabhakar, Shantaram’s views about India are formed. He has an emotional relationship with Prabhakar. When Prabhakar dies then this loss is not less emotional than the separation of Jai and Veeru in Sholay, after Jai is killed. Prabhakar’s death leaves a sad void in the plot and in the life of Shantaram also, a void which can not be filled again.
Prabhakar has an infectious laugh. He wants to help Shantaram in any case whether he has capability or not. He first gives him name Lin on the basis of Shivlinga. He calls him Lin Baba.

3 Abdullah Tahiri :
He is an Iranian by birth and basically he is a fighter in the gang of Khader Bhai. A quiet person by nature and he is a devoted follower of Khader Bhai but dangerous for their enemies. Abhishek Bacchan suits well for such roles.

4 Qasim Ali Hussain :
He is a friend of Khader Bhai and manages the slums developed on the grounds occupied by Khader Bhai. He is also a powerful person but he is calm and caring person in nature. He takes care of the people living in the slums controlled by him. He is chief of the slums in every sense. He is not educated but he is sensible and he motivates Lin to do social works in slums and arranges every kind of help he needs. Nana Patekar actors for this character if he has to be shown in age category of Khaderbhai

5 Prabhakar’s parents,
Rukhaminbai & Kisan, typical farmer family from North Maharashtrian village. Story of gunddas/dakeths from near by village had been kicked aways by Rukhaminbai and villages. If scenes of Prabhakar’s village, given in the book, are kept in the film also and scenes when they visit slums in Bombay are also kept then these are good supporting roles and have enough scope for actors to make their presence visible and appealing.

6 Karla:
She is a beautiful European woman. She is always a mystery for Lin. He is attracted towards her but she has always something hidden about her which brings a new facet of hers before Lin and he is left astonished. Kate Winslet (she is quite old not to do the role, can go with make up) fits the role and consideration that she already has enough exposure towards India, closely and living with Indian family there for days might have exposed her more about India and these things may bring authenticity in her performance. Later, during the shooting of Holi Smoke also she had lived in India. In the book, she has been living in India for years and now its her real home and she does not wish to go back.
Karla and Lin’s love story has western shades and its like a regular love story based Hollywood film where characters meet and separate many times before final union or departure. It’s a mini film inside a big film and will bring an interesting watch specially because of the fact that Lin does not know all things about Karla and he even does not know that all this time when she was dating him, she was working for Khader Bhai. But their love story will bring many interesting romantic scenes, specially when they visit Goa.

7. Vikram Patel,
He is son of a rich man. He is highly impressed with Client Eastwood and other western films and always appears in that get up only. He makes friends with Karla and Shantaram and Dildier. He ultimately marries Karla’s friend. He is funny at times but he is not scared in going with Lin to fight with criminals. He is also not a character with single dimension characteristics and an actor needs to show different moods of the character. Govinda perhaps will not do it and Arshad Warsi is other name who will shine in this role. Vikram does many stunts to impress Litty – Letita in love. Finally gets her to settle down.

8. Madam Zhao,
This mysterious madame runs a brothel for rich and powerful in Bombay. Very few people have seen her as she lives in her mansion and does not come out. Many stories are floating there about her. Karla and Lin meet her to take away a friend of Karla who is working as a prostitute in her brothel.
Simi Garewal and Rekha both are capable to play this role if role has to be played by an Indian actress. Madam Zhao in the book is most bad character in book. With Proper make up Kangana may look like the character described in the book. Otherwise many aged Hollywood actresses are there to play this role.

9. Kanu the Bear,
Kanu keeps an important place in the book but its not certain that film will also keep this animal in the film. Not sure if shooting with animals is still allowed in India or not? To keep joy factor intact in the film, Kanu bear, should be there.
Yes, the bear was sent by Abdulla as gift to give a actual bear hug. It was great fun to read around bear story, This bear once goes to jail, finally sent safely outside Maharashtra along with Ganapati statue to avoid trouble.

10. Other characters,
There are many characters in the film and in the international gang of Khader Bhai there are several characters which have importance in the plot like Khaled Ansari, Abdul Ghani – the traitor, Raju bhai, new lads who join the concil after Khader bhai like Sanjay, Salman, Farid, Andrew, Aamir. Nazeer – body guard of Khaderbhai.
Many actors of Black Friday team can be used in the characters living in slums and who are friends of Prabhakar and Lin. It includes characters like Johny Cigar, Jeetendra, Radha (Jeetu's wife), Parvati (Prabhakar's wife), Sita, Anand (man who killed Rafig in hate), Satish- kid, Joseph & Maria, Andhkar (dark black man in seen of Joseph's punishment), Ranjit-medical drug, Ranjeet- Jeet- Karla's bf, Big Rahul – in Jail, Manoj – in jail, Ulla, Medona & his friends rival of Lin, Lettita, African don based in dongari – who disperses dead bodies in hole, Member of Khader bhai's council, blind singers & their story, friends on the way to Afganistan-Kandhar via Quatta (Pak), Lin's friend while running away from Australian jail, Lin's philosophy proff, Khader bhai's scientist connection from Bhabha, spiritual guru fro m Varanasi, Abdulla's love & Farid's cousin from Delhi, Ramesh, Anand- Hotel/Lodge owner, standing babas, Guptaji's den, small kids' selling den, . It goes on :-)
There were other small roles like Habib- the madman, Ahmad, Allaudin, Muzahiddin fighters and helpers.

I think its really difficult task to put whole book in single movie. I don't mind if director make it part-1 part-2. Roberts is busy with writting another book on his next life. That can sure be part-3 depending on movie's box office collection.
Khader Bhai loves his nephew Tariq and role of this child can be played by any of the child actor. They may make this small role memorable.
Lately AB has not been getting challenging roles. Good roles, which could help him to grow further as an actor, have been away from him. All of his present days directors are not thinking beyond the work, already done by him in the past. And in such scenario Khader Bhai’s character brings a golden opportunity before him to show his fine acting skills.
Khader Bhai is the call of Amitabh Bachchan only. He fits very well in the role in every sense. This is not call of any of the actor Pankaj Kapoor, OM Puri or Naseeruddin Shah as book does not contain their influence on the character.

To select AB in the role of Khader Bhai indicates that Mira Nair is walking on right path and it shows that she has understood the character well.

Depp has selected Mira Nair as the director for this project. It will be first of its kind for Mira Nair and perhaps Salam Bombay could have been the basis for Johnny Depp to decide in favour of Mira Nair as her first film deals with slums in Bombay and Shantaram also covers life in slums. We have to see what kind of treatment Mira Nair gives to this big subject. She has adapted books on screen in the past also but first time she will be handling organised crime which covers burning issue of unified Islamic power also. It’s a wonderful opportunity for Mira Nair as a director, as seldom directors get such a subject where they have to cover different kinds of sub plots also.

Its important to do right thing but reason is more important that thing. Its right to do wrong thing for right reason, but its wrong to do right thing for wrong reason.
We always need to reach to complexity which ultimately revels to discovery of God.
Men look away while saying wrong, women do it with deep eye contact. So, difficult to understand whats right or wrong !

I was flying back from Paris Charles De Goule airport. While waiting in boarding queue, i found a English guy reading "Shantaram".
I asked him."Hey, have u finished reading shantaram"!
"Not yet, i'll soon finish it. Its nice book"
"Yes. I have read it once. Its really wonderful book with pace & every details"
he accepted, "yeah, right!"
I tried to check how much he remember about Shataram,"So, hows Karla, Khader, linbaba? Do you like them?"
Surprisingly said,"You know all of them!!Good. Karla is good, mysterious beauty & soul. Its good story!"
We discsussed few more thing like, where are you flying & bla bla..

It was good to see someone who knows & think as you are thinking...at such unexpected time :-)

Saving data & config dual boot System

Dear all,

Usually we face backup and OS formatting issues on dual boot systems. Here are few more tricks to make sure you have all mails safe (only for Thunderbird) & same firefox history, bookmarks, themes & plugins.

Case 1: If you have only Microsoft Xp/Vista installed on system, you can just install another linux. Grub will take care of your Xp installation.

Case 2: If Linux is installed already & want to installing Xp without loosing Linux.
Once XP has been installed, it will boot happily into Xp but there's no sign of Linux. To reinstate GRUB as the system bootloader it needs to be reinstalled into the MBR. Use any live CD to go in rescue mode and have your harddisk mounted in /mnt/sysimage/ (usually in Fedora/RHEL)

To enter the GRUB configuration mode, type in "sudo grub" and press Enter. Then type in the following commands after boot with live CD & excute below commands :

Commands to follow :
- sudo grub: This will open grub menu.
- root (hd0,0) : deciding hd0,0 is really important factor ! Be careful, wrong hd selection may format data.

It shows /boot mounted on sda3 from hard disk 1 so you need to select (hd0,2) if /boot is installed on sda1 then it'll be (hd0,0).
- setup (hd0)
It 'll simply install grub on selected sda partition. It gives clear confirmation saying "Successfully done".

- quit & exit
Reboot system. You will find Linux, Xp is not available. Now open your /boot/grub/grub.conf , add below line to see your Xp back in position.

Reboot the system. You'll get the GRUB bootloader but Vista won't be an option - we need to add this to the boot options.
If Xp is not booting, go back to Linux & add below text in grub.conf :

chainloader +1

Save the file and reboot. When the GRUB loader launches hit ESC for the boot menu. Windows XP is the last option - select it and XP will load.

If you want to make the GRUB menu always available, boot back into Linux and edit the grub.conf file. Find the hiddenmenu text string and change it to #hiddenmenu.
To increase the menu timeout, change the default timeout 3 to something more appropriate.

To Save your mails :

Just backup your folder /home//private/jzk0qj4u.default/Mail/Local Folders from Linux to some FAT or NTFS partition which is also available in WinXp & mounted in Linux.
Now if you boot in WinXp.
Just install Thunderbird and change "Local Folders" path to Xp path to same Local folder Eg: "C:\private\jzk0qj4u.default\Mail\Local Folders" .
Restart Thunderbird . You'll get all your mails
Matter of fact I drafted half of this mail in Linux & remaining half in Linux !! Its really a great advantage to use :-)

Firefox Plugins & history :

Profile stored at location can be copy pasted and used for Linux. Off course only supported plugin will be seen at respective OS.
Win Xp path: C:\Documents and Settings\Mahendra\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Linux : /home/uname/.mozilla/..

You'll always have your all bookmarks. You can keep them safe on Foxmark site. Google chrome has released this bookmark sync feature now , which is easily done in Firefox from years !
Its always trouble less while doing any re installations and formating. All above experimets tested ok on my own machine. Welcome if need any help :-)

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly.

The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by an OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century.

We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player.

Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 km/ hour to an OBC player.

Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying t he ministers and politicians (that can really help the country...)

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country...)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward...

Installing module in httpd apache on Linux

We can implement logging option at apache-httpd level to keep record of request and response byte count.
To implement logging modules mod_logio and mod_log_config in to existing httpd, we need to upgrade existing apache by yum update . This 'll automatically install all modules needed by httpd. httpd.conf default logger need to be changes as follows

Procedure to follow :

First check whether mod_log_config module is installed on apache using command
httpd -l
if its present go ahead for installing mod_logio module
if not present install mod_log_config using following method ( change mod_logio.c to mod_log_config.c )

1. Copy the apache-httpd source to /usr/local ( if its not available)

2. Add module mod_logio.c to existing apache-httpd using following commads.
apxs -c $httpd-2.2.3/modules/loggers/mod_logio.c
apxs -i -a -n mod_logio $httpd-2.2.3/modules/loggers/mod_logio.la

3. Load shared object files needed.
ldconfig

This 'll add below line in file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
LoadModule logio_module lib/apache/mod_logio.so

4. Log format in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
By default ( something like this ):
LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-Agent}i\"" combined
should be changed to ( %I %O should be appended ) :
LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b %T \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-agent}i\" %I %O" combined

5. restart apache-httpd
6. Check for access logs for change

We need to make sure while installing new httpd we should use these options to get request , response bytes.
./configure --enable-layout=RedHat --enable-auth-digest --enable-deflate --enable-proxy --enable-rewrite --enable-so --enable-status --enable-info --enable-logio

Its advisable to try the same on local machine before trying out on live server.
Let me know if in issue while installing/upgrading...

Something being hobby or use to is kind of okey but "Addiction" is bad !!

Now a days people gets addicted to cellphone, PC, TV . Earlier trend was old with cigar, drinks, gambling, etc

I came across addition of browsing over similar set of page again and again on net. Something like, just visiting google.com even u don't have any thing in mind to be searched. Too frequently checking mails are kind of such additions.

Today's blog is too control Web page addition. Use a simple browser like Firefox. Pretty secured and equipped with billions of plug ins try various things. Get a plugin called http://pageaddict.com/ , available to download in xpi format at http://pageaddict.com/download.html

It supported on Firefox 3.0 & 2.0 so no worry. U just need to install and config it. U can find plugin link in Tools-->Pageaddict

Click on it, it'll take u too its site. U can do required setting on site itself. Its very simple !!

Recently I had visited CST and Gateway of India to show some great things of Mumbai to my cousin.
He was happy to see the Arabean sea and The Taj. Location was too much crowded. Still it was okey for any Indian to enjoy the atmosphere. I noticed to shabby things in sea. Location just infront of Taj. Crowd use to eat stuff and throw the waste in sea. Have a look at below pic :

World Environment Day 2009!

The day was June 5th ! We had environment day celebration at office. We had a small kiosk rather just a gardener with handful of small plants for selling. The guy was illerate and wasn't even knowing names of the plant. Every time we ask something .. he always said,"saab, ye accha hai.. ye bhi lo"
Every plant was prices based on how much it has grown and the quality, health of plant. It was average ranging up to 100 bucks.
I took the below one :

2 days later, we have celebration of "vad savitri pornima" .. where Ladies- married women tag a thread around tree and ask for blessing for god of tree for their husband ...
I came across a tree which they use to ask for blessing. It was a small brank of tree somebody brought after cutting from tree.. It was shame of human being to ask blessing from almost dead tree .. what a culture we follow. Can't we save some of geniun plants, trees and our nature to avoid such situation.

So .. its must for all of us to observe World Environment Day !!!
Save nature ! before it ends !!!

Beautiful memories of school

It was almost 8 years, I left the school. Havn't seen those blue & white uniforms. Regular morning PT with Mulik sir. Vestle still bangs my head. That was final wake up call we had. Still remembers the orders and school bells bangs in head. Dangerous style beating. Specially TPJ (Tejerao Jadhav sir, Hon's in Maths), Prasad sir (English). We use tremble on entering class roon which was labeled as “English Lab”. Guys, can u believe, subject like English too have the laboratory. There were pics of many old authors, poets,etc. Including Shakesphere, HG Wells, Williams Wordworth, bla bla. Who the hell remembers the names of those oldies who wrote those bullshit poems and we need to mug them all.

I reached the school at noon. The only person known to me was Kumbhar mama. I called,"Kai Kumbhar mama, olakhale ka? (Kumar mama, did you recognized me?)
I was damm sure, the old guy must have forgotan things 8 years back.
Mama yelled,"Kai Tipale, tula kai watale. Topi, chashma ghalun aala mhanaje zale ka.. ha ha ha" (What you think, by wearing, spectacle and cap , u 'll fool me.. Tipale I remember you very well...)
To my surprise and happyness. "Thanks god... somebody still knows me here :) "

I visited the whole school. Took pics of those classroom, where we got punishments, got sticks on buttocks, that huge 10 acres ground, where we toiled daily PT (physical training) under honorable command of Mulik sir, that main notice board with very first name "Mahendra Tipale 80.80% , batch pass percentage 95.20%" ... pic attached.

All teachers currently working in JNV, Basmathnagar. Name of district changes but not the teachers and school.

I was traveling to Parbhani last week. Full rush, some how managed to get a place. Bus stopped at Manjalgoan tehsil. The person from window shouted to keep his handkerchief on empty space next to me. Actually, its custom in buses to reserve your seat in rush hours, typical for State transport buses. I observed same is being followed to book your seat in restaurants in Singapore too.

The guy in late 20s, displined accent, like a teacher came to the place. I was watching around. Somehow I started to discuss, Where are you from, what do u do? Etc

Guys from small family, who could do medical graduation due to poor economy. He had caste certificate of ST to get admission to some good college. He was a teacher and was teaching some basic subject in primary school near tehsil place. I shared my details with him. Told him I 'm traveling to Navodaya Vidyalaya, Basmathnagar. I'm 2001 pass out from that school. Surprisingly, he too was from Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nanded. Located at Shankarnagar.

In fact, we had some of common friends from Shankarnagar. We started discussing how, when and what?

He was senior to me by 2 years. He did his graduation and now trying to get admission for Bed. Which will help him to get in to professors job at some higher secondary school. Being only source of earning for family. He was too busy with family stuff. Piraji also told, his motto is to clear MPSC exam to join civil services for Maharashtra state. We both hate the politics and politicians, so had good thought about things around. The day was deciding day for Politician as it was polling day.

Most interesting fact was he shared his email id. Actually, he had recently purchased a laptop and so he thought to have email id. He asked his friend to open one for him. It was pirajiwanole@yahoo.com . Along with email id, he also shared his mobile number and told me, my password is my mobile number .. ha ha ha ... wohchh.. i told him this is suppose to be secret man! Dont tell anybody about your password. ;-)

Bus stopped at Dhalegoav, small village based on bank of river Godavari. Its famour for Bhel. Most of buses stop here for break. One of Piraji's friend met. He offered us a glass of lussy (thick butter milk with Kaju, Badam-Almonds). It was great. We proceeded the journey. We had long talks on education system, working of systems, etc, etc

Felt happy to meet such a struggling person . :)

OWN YOUR MARRIAGE

If a couple has problems, the entire family turns up at the therapists' office.
Don't let others get a hold of your marriage. Make your own decisions; if you invest in your relationship, you'll value it more. A marriage helps you grow as a person — provided you allow it to happen.
RECOGNISE SPACE
In a marriage, apart from the two sets of personal spaces ('I' space), pay attention to the 'We' space too. If each of you says "don't interfere in my space", there'll be nothing left to do together. It doesn't mean you have to be joined at the hip, but make conscious efforts to spend time together despite super busy careers. Do simple tasks like household chores together. A NEW TEMPLATE
Often the template we acquire about marriage are from our parents. A girl might think her father is a great husband for she has seen him do grocery shopping or help with her homework. If her husband doesn't do similar stuff, she gets disappointed. Similarly, a man might feel his mom is a fab cook and when his wife doesn't match up, he gets annoyed. Reduce your Carbon Footprint

Use cleaner transport

Walk, bike, or take public transit whenever possible.

Have your vehicle serviced regularly to keep the emission control systems operating at peak efficiency. Check your car's air filter monthly, and keep the tires adequately inflated to maximize gas mileage.
Avoid short airplane trips—take a bus or train instead.

Add energy-saving features to your home

Install compact fluorescent bulbs in all your home light fixtures—but remember, compact fluorescents contain mercury, so look for low-mercury models and be sure to dispose of old bulbs safely through your local hazardous waste program.

Reduce your Goods and Services Footprint

Buy less! Replace items only when you really need to.
Recycle all your paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic. Don't forget electronics!
Compost food waste for the garden. Garbage that is not contaminated with degradable (biological) waste can be more easily recycled and sorted, and doesn't produce methane gases (a significant greenhouse gas contributor) when stored in a landfill.

New Ten rupee coin of India

Its released and now you can have it on your pocket!
RBI is ready to issue a new bimetallic 10 Rupee coin for circulation.

The look: The obverse side has the lion capitol with numeral 10 and year of manufacture.

On reverse side, a double line cross with a dot in each pellet of cross and denomination written in Hindi and English around.

This design has been prepaed by National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad with the theme of Unity in Diversity.

The outer side metal is Nickel-Bronze and the inner side metal is Ferrous Steel.

The weight of the coin would be 8 grams and the diameter would be 28 mm.
The coins are being minted at mainly Noida and Mumbai mint.

The coins worth Rs.70 million was already stored in its stock till August 2008.

Faridkot: Big heads, bulging eyes, twisted hands that don’t reach their mouths and gnarled legs that can barely support their frail frames. Intrigued by the strange abnormalities visible among children in a pocket of Faridkot, a visiting South African toxicologist, Dr Carin Smit, had their hair samples sent to a German laboratory. The results, which have just come in, are shocking—the deformities were caused by alarmingly high levels of uranium.
“The test results have left us baffled as there’s no apparent source of uranium in Punjab,’’ said Prithpal Singh, head of the Baba Farid Centre for Special Children in Faridkot.
Intent on unravelling the bizarre ailment afflicting about 150 kids, more tests are being organised with the help of a team of German and South African doctors to establish if the traces found are from depleted uranium or natural sources. Dr Smit said, “When I first saw such overwhelming evidence of severe brain damage, I thought it was poisoning. I never suspected uranium.’’
Now she, along with Vera Dirr, another South African specialist, is here to collect urine samples. “Of the 149 children tested, 53 are likely to show more traces of uranium. We are now focusing on them to get more specific evidence.’’
The uranium-induced debility has rendered the kids unable to communicate. “If they get hurt or are bitten by, say, ants, they don’t feel the pain,’’ said Dr Prithpal. Yuvraj Singh, 7, has no control over his body. He can barely stand, eat or speak. “It’s agonising to watch him make futile attempts to reach out for things,’’ says Davinder Singh, a farmer from Mallan Wala village, about 60 km from Faridkot. Sarika, 13, can’t hold her head up, it flops sideways. It’s a struggle for her to eat.
For most parents living in anxiety, the arrival of the foreign specialists has brought a flicker of hope. “We desperately hope that the treatment willhelp my four-year-old grandson stand on his feet,’’ said Paramvir Singh from Korakpura, a village some 35 km away from Faridkot.
So, where could the uranium have come from? One possibility could be negligence while using uranium in heavy water reactors for the making of nuclear weapons. “The nearest nuclear power plant in India is in Kota, Rajasthan. But, Pakistan’s Khushab is not more than 150 km from the Indian border and has a thriving heavy water and natural uranium research reactor,’’ Smit said.

After TOI carried a report in some of its editions on Thursday, the Punjab government announced the setting up of a five-member committee to probe into the possible causes of the alarming levels of uranium in Faridkot. Shedding its earlier reluctance to look into the matter, the government is now not averse to rope in PGI experts for a scientific study into the issue. Faridkot civil surgeon S S Mahia, who will lead the five-member probe team, said, “We’ve taken five water samples from the town, including the centre where these children with uranium traces have been lodged. We plan to test the water for heavy metals.’’

I still think how it could be Pakistan nuclear wastage or Kota power plant nuclear dump? Either of place is far away from Faridkot ! If its Faridkot than why cities around the place are not affected.
Ideally, nuclear waste is dumped far away in sea or deserted area to avoid any such issue. Its kept under watch. Nuclear content in water & soil could help to investigate the issue further.

Recently, i visited govt site which has lot of gyan over energy sources and how Nuclear energy is better in comparison to other orthodox methods. It was all about going ahead with "123" policy !

I strongly feel, putting nuclear waste and accidents like Bhopal gas tragedy and Ukrainian plant explosion are very dangerous to man kind. We should strongly oppose more use of Nuclear power plant.. More than that Nuclear missile production and reasearch should be stooped unanimously all over the world.

Reliance broadband bakwaas service too bad

Folks,

Recently I experienced service by India's largest industries : Reliance - Anil Ambani group. I tell u its really bad.

Marketing guy from RIL came to me and offered broadband connections free of cost. Which is added 500/- in very first bill. Bill came 11 days after connection was activated. It was 1000/- bill on 12th day of service. Its included 50/- telephone charges which are said to be free service.

It was total mess up in bill. I asked RIL to disconnect the service.
termination request : 8457 4299 ... which is yet to terminate, i guess
net connection change request:8457 4628 .. don't know what its for
Customer care guy @ 1800 30007777
told me its correct bill

RIL customer care called me 50 times for bill payment. Nobody never updated me on service termination request.
Unfortunately, I also got second bill even though I never used this bakwaas service in that time span.
Anyway, I'm still fighting to close on service with RIL...

Sun took over Innotek VBox. Master class product to use multiple OSs on Linux box. I have became huge fan when I tried it. Most imp thing is no sign up, trial version OR registration headache.. Goes very well as open source.

As Linux user, I had limitation while using Microsoft supported stuff. As company intranet & many websites are still IE crazy. I installed Xp with Vbox on my Linux FC6.

Win Xp on Linux Box :

Its was of great use when I started playing Counter Strike. I can start Vbox & play CS. Only you need to care is space & physical memory allocated should be good enough to do your stuff on VBox.

If you go for multiple OS on Vbox.. Physical memory allowed to allocate reduces as underlined OS need to have enough memory..

Guys you can enjoy all your games, movie, other utils of Win environment which may not work in Linux with WINE. Most of n/w stuff don't work with WINE.

Micro emulator :

Tried hands on java-j2me emulator on linux machine. Its also helpful in j2me development & trying out small java apps.

To add micro emulator as command in linux, put below lines in a file named microemulator. change permissions to executable. put the file in system path ie /usr/bin or any bin path

Command can set user-agent as "Nokia6030" same can be changed to any phone. Using proxy to connect net. Assuming microemulator is installed at path /opt/microemulator-2.0.1/

kudzu FC8 Eth1 Linux

Another post on linux after long time.

My friend Chinmay had issue with RealTek NIC on FC8. This guy had already destroyed 2 NIC on same machine. After opening the box, he placed the NIC on 2nd Ethernet slot on mother board. Rebooting machine didn't showed the eth1.

Followed the below steps to add the device :

1. First command to run after new h/w addition in any linux box : kudzu

2. kudzu detected the Ethernet card and added it in but couldn't show it when seen with ifconfig as eth1 config file was not on place.

3. I checked MAC of card with ifconfig -a , device was with name tmp_sakjdh132 ..
4. Created copy of eth0 /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcnf-eth0.conf to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcnf-eth1.conf

5. Changes MAC in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcnf-eth1.conf .

6. /etc/init.d/network restart solved all issue.

ifconfig showed eth1 with valid IP

Thats all !
Chinmay was than back to work. Trying to damage 3rd NIC card on his machine ;)

Many of mobile phone user wish to access their server through Ssh proto. I got something for you. Only thing you should have is basic midp1.0 supported phone

You can download the app from http://www.xk72.com/midpssh/download.php here . Depending on phone capabilily you should donwload java/midp app.

Only you need is Gprs connectivity to download and connect the server. App has nice functionality like macro, store session, font change.

Another with dynamic screen. I feel only drawback is connectivity handled by java. S60 Putty work in better manner for connectivity.. Its bit obvious as java has to access native API of Symbian/Proprietor OS of the Phone.

Ssh stable reverse tunnel

Many servers are being accessed using tunnels and we are tired of recreating the tunnel again & again. Here is script which can sure the availability of tunnel.
The solution to use ssh command without using the console(tty) is to add -t -t option. Option can be used for remote/local tunnels also.
Eg : ssh -t -t -R 2222:localhost:22 username@

This will create a pseudo terminal which will login to remote server. So, actual terminal is not engaged by ssh proc, which makes the tunnel more stable & consistent. To add on further check, we can check if ssh proc is running & create new ssh tunnel using shell script with a cron job at hourly interval. Shell script can be changed to reset tunnel every hour using kill $PID & recreate tunnel to insure availability.
For further details check man pages. Such tunnels can be configured to allow remote login to office machine. Feel free to ask if have any query. Sample tunnel script attached with mail.

Further suggestion are welcome !

Outing at S'pore East coast

Most memorable thing was roaming testing done with Starhub team. We actually went for outing on east coast. It was great fun. Testing was a nominal thing. Team had planned for lunch in coastal area Indian Hotel. I was accompanied by Sabrina (The lady boss), Rachel (The cute lightweight girl), Fiona (Fairly family lady), Gek Choo (Elderly religious vegetarian lady). All ladies with Chinese origin/look but very caring attitude. We placed the order, I still remember the order :

1. Dal Makhani - Sabrina asked to have bucket full of daal after seeing same on next table
2. Butter chicken- As it was must to have non-veg
3. Naan- 1 Mango, 1 cheese, 2 butter.
4. Veg rice + some spicy sup for Gek Choo.

I went to wash my hands as Indian culture. Ladies were confused, why this guy went away.. when lunch is ready. I started eating with right hand.. cutting piece of naan with fore finger & support of mid finger & thumb.. as typical roti eater does. It was amazing thing for ladies. Sabrina tried cut roti with fingers but couldn't.
And Rachel was cutting her naan with fork & spoon. Some how she managed to finish her stuff but couldn't digest it. As on next day she told she had bad stomach & had to go bathroom many times. Gek Choo had ordered some spicy rice which to too much hot to eat. She keep on drinking water along with sup & rice.

I tell you, I really enjoyed the lunch. I guess, it was very difficult thing to digest for ladies. Before landing to hotel, I was agreed to sponsor the party. Bill was some 80$ = 80X33 = 2640RS which will go for party of 15 people in India. Never mind. Bill was refunded by my company & that lunch was most memorable lunch in S'pore.

ASN Murthy sir:

I was most inspired by ASN sir in my life. As his bahaviour, rules, discipline indicates he has army school background. In fact he was physics teacher in some Army school. He was our principal so was most respected person in school. His values & level of thought was always inspiring for us.
The guy in late 40s was always full of enthuse & inspiration for others. Matter of fact I too got vital experience of his strict nature 2-3 times in college era. Once I was caught for taking sugar-canes from nearby farms. Our princy gave me 2 slaps and told not to repeat such things again in life… So, I never did it in such sloppy way. I did it many times later but with great care not to get caught. There is great saying, “Do whatever u want but never get caught in crime of it if what u r doing is got goodness of anybody”. Usually “anybody” use to be myself. Later on in school days I was more sincere towards studies & discipline.
His kids Chaitanya & Siddhardh were good friends of us. They were never been like princy’s kids. Late on, we came to know princy got transferred. We were very tense on that, as we were losing one of good teacher. Being class X students, were more responsible to changes in school. I use to keep in touch with Chaitanya now a days. Princy is doing well in one of Andhapradesh JNV school. Best luck.

I still remember the day he demonstrated mice & frog dissection. He shown the testis & male reproductive system is inside body of frog. I saw, heart beat was still on. I never forget he killed a frog & mice in two practical. He was vice princy of our school.

Last princy when I passed out the school. We nick named him as Mendeleev. Name was coined from Mendileevs’ periodic table. Guy was short & fatty, sorry to say sir. I did well in Chemistry which made my classmates to nick name me Mendileev. Sali sir‘s interest in art was discovered when he started writing painted “good thoughts” on walls of school building. I helped him a lot in the process. He was hard worker who earned for basic living & learing in his childhood. Infact he did small job related to painting & art. We shared good amount of thoughts in school. That was good pastime we had in common. I still remember his cute daughter. She was so cute & small. He had habit of saying “isn’t it?” I had counted in one of his lecture. It was 73 times in period of 1 hour, that was very good score.

Worst day in my life !!!

This is my very first blog reminding my school days memories, Inspired by "Shala" - a book by Mr Milind Bokil. It’s a marathi book, the story almost applies to every mischief child of mid school days...

I was studying in standard/grade 8. Not yet understandable and matured about facts of life. My school- a residential/boarding school Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located in Basmathnagar tehsil, district: Parbhani, now changed to Hingoli, in states of Maharashtra, India http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=19.3251459&lon=77.1278&z=17&l=0&m=h&v=2 . Place is located near banana, sugarcane & mango farms with beauty of nature. Grown up listening pea-cocks’ "mauuu-mauuu" along with torturing whistle in early morning. Story bangs in ears….
Our class teacher - Mr Kadole, hanged a half yearly exam timetable on notice board. It’s starting just after 15 days. Being average student in batch was barely prepared for that. Better side of this was, we‘ll not be have morning PT & more relaxation in physical exercise is boon to every student in school. I started studyinh in more deapth. I choose to start with Social science to finish first.
Time 7pm, was reading a book in eveining study hours. Suddenly, a guy Waghmare came to me. Being my class-mate, I thought it would be regular book sharing or note/note-book sharing. But that wasn’t the case.
He said, "Hey buddy, this is my pen. Where did you found this one?" I was surprised. So said, "dude, you have some misconception. It’s my & my father have given it to me."
Waghmare got bit furious "But, this pen has marking at bottom end. And I know for sure, its mine. Give me right now, or I’ll straight way complain to Principal Sir."
We were always scared to meet our Principal sir- Mr ASN Murthy. He would have given me 10 slaps & some more punishment without listening to me anymore. But I was confident on my side.
I said to Waghmare, "Do whatever you want to do. Go to hell! I don’t care, it’s my pen".
Now it became big deal. It was a precious gel pen by Luxary which was gifted to be from my father. It would have cost 25 Rs in market to buy new one. I just banged him away.
The sticky guy Waghmare, we use to call him mosquito, as he was so small in size & had very sticky, never give up attitude. He came back with 2 more common friends, asked them to have a look on pen. Even they too agreed it’s his pen.
Now, I was bit low in confidence, case started moving out of my hands. He asked me to come to come and meet Principal sir. I was blushed, bit scared of meeting Principal. But I had no choice. Study hall was full of students from grade 5th to grade 10th. Complete silence. Out of sudden, Principal came in our lane. He called us, as we were doing discussiong on the issue.

With in 2 minute of discussion and arguments, fire stuck on chicks, banging right below ear! Sound killed the silence. Everybody was looking at the scene. Slap had stuck on my face. I was blushed, eye sight down to toes, nervous. Shamed of what had happened all of sudden. Feeling was like, world ate me alive! Hell, pick me up before I become conscious of what happening!!
Sobbing, weeping with hick ups. I was staring at social science book. Chapter was same with drops of tears poring on it. Cyclone started in my brain, how this happened. I got to prove this. Who cheated me? I walked back to hotel. I didn't go my dinner. I sat alone in dark, thinking to crack the case & prove that to Principal.
Our hostel was divided in to four houses, each house had two blocks & each block had 40 students of various grades, ages and behavior. I was totally confused from where to start? I looked for other angle. Splashed a thought, Is that pen really belongs to me? I knew, that wasn’t my pen, somebody had replaced It with other one… Somebody had cheated me.
I analyzed things people lost in last few months. There was good amount of stuff robbed in a month. Somebody lost pen, wrist watch, refill, note-books and small things. I got idea, to stay at hostel in study hours to check luggage of some suspicious students. There is some thief in hostel; who is after such things. There were few minor incidences of complete robbery of money. But students never mind it. We use to contribute the money & fill up the losses. Many of issues use to resolve after minor fights & end up with complaining teacher or house master. Night was not easy to pass in such situation. I manage to get sleep in early morning.
I did inspection in morning PT hours. I figured out luggage of Balaji Awale who was my classmate. In fact, he had things more than one expect with him. I saw some of the duplicate pens & books on his bed. This was striking revelation for me. Balaji was below average student with keen interest in music & arts, although he didn’t had any special quality in music or arts. I use to have good contact with him. Being residential school student, more often we use to share books, notes & many of stationeries. He was my prime suspect. But I was looking for more detailed proofs so, he could feed guilty before ASN (Our Principal sir). I never had doubt on him; eventually I decided to keep eye on him to make him accept his mistake. My close friends always had faith in me. They proposed a plan to catch him. We planned to have common checking of house for finding some stolen things. House captain Rajesh was a good student. He accepted our proposal to go ahead with complete checking.
Evening hours was best time to do checking. We sealed the door for checking, so no one should be able to through stolen thing out from window. I took Rajesh & my trusted senior guys to go ahead for checking. Balaji’s bed was second in left row. So, I insist them to start from left row. My bed was in first row on left side so, I completed my checking first. We turned to Balaji’s luggage. He showed us all things with more care, so some stolen things should not come up. I asked Balaji to come down & let me do checking. I opened his box. There were many small thing placed inside box. I started picking & showing it to everybody. It was enough to break confidence of Balaji. For first 2-3 things, he keeps on saying. "I borrowed this Raj; I took it from Sandeep & so on… Sometimes he said its mine & all". I asked my friend to call Sandeep to confirm whether he had given this book to him. Here we got success to crack him. But he never cried. I called other house mates, shown all stuff present in Balaji’s box. We involved our house master in matter. He was shocked to see such thing first time. Balaji had collected almost 200 Rs things. We even had no idea about where he had stolen money before. He accepted, "I have stolen these stuff & will not do such thing again in my life". His eyes were filled with tears with fear. We had tradition to bit the robber then hand him over to principal or house master.

My friends also asked me to bit him. But that meant nothing to me. I asked Balaji, "Come with me tomorrow to meet ASN, he should know I’m not the one who stole Waghmare’s pen.". He had no choice then accepting.
Next morning, 9.00 am; it was free hour. I took Balaji to ASN’s cabin. We waited outside as ASN was not in cabin. After 15 min sir came, he was accomplished by our PT teacher Mr Mulik. So, we need to wait another 10-15 min. I turned to Balaji; confirmed whether he is ok to accept everything before principal? He already had accepted. Mulik sir came out in 10 min, he saw me; asked Tipale, what happened? What are you doing here? No class?. I replied "No sir, it’s off hour, so we had some issue to asked Principal Sir". He left us. I moved to ASN’s cabin door.
"May I come in sir?"
ASN was bit busy with reading some notice, "what happened man? Come in".
Being south India, he had habit of adding "man" in any place. I said, "Sir, I’m with Balaji. He wants to say something on thing what had happened day before yesterday"
Sir said, "Where is he? Call him inside". I called Balaji to come in.
Balaji came inside. His eyes were staring his toes. He was ashamed of what had happened. I said,"Balaji, please, share the truth?"
He started, "Sir, actually I had exchanged Mahendra’s pen with other pen, which I had stolen from Waghmare. This was actually Waghmare’s pen so Mahendra got caught because of me. He is innocent. He had no idea about these details." His eyes were filled with tears. ASN was looking in shocked. His face was saying "Sorry, I should have done more inquiry in case". I had no words to say. I was almost crying. My eyes were filled with tears. ASN couldn’t control himself to say, "Sorry my friend. Hey man, it happens many times. Forget the crap. Take this banana as gift". He gave two bananas to me. I guess, fruit supplier usually keeps two piece of banana for quality check on ASN’s desk. I took banana and came to my class. Trauma was now over. I was feeling life I’ve won battle. I was very happy. My status, my value was restored. I was feeling like a heaven. That day was once of the happiest day of my life.

This is story of my close friend Ramesh – Ramesh Pawar. Real genuine guy with average look, but extra-ordinary way of thinking. Ramesh was one of the talented student with great pro efficiency in languages, especially in English. He was worst in Mathematics, so use to mug up his mathematical calculations, proofs & formulas. He managed to do mug up like anything. We use to call him "Rattu Ramu".
One day evening, he took one A4 page of drawing book and made bold mark labeled with text "But Why?". He was always thinking something. May be about the society, nation, politics, evaluation of languages, why maths is difficult & bla bla bla. I guess, we were not enough mature to understand him or he was extra matured, God knows! My bed was across to his bed, so I just saw his board & asked him why you made this thing. What is your attitude about this message?. He explained briefly, "Its very valid answer to any answer OR question". I was surprised. But if you think for a while you 'll agree to this. It looks insane to think by "But Why?". Ultimately, you'll end up with its question whether to live or die?
Psychologically he was one one of the strong candidate in our team. But some where down the line he was distracted from bottom of heart. May be, he was not aware of fact of living. We use to lengthy discussions on philosophy & how things should be. Be it a political affair or minor natural behavior of mosquito. We always to crack the magic behind the screen. We were classmates so, seen each other growing for 7 years. Major time of transaction between young man to adult is major to make difference in your thinking and makes a vivid mark in mind. This was what had happened with him.
He lost the track of education. Eventually, he joined some teaching institude to work as assistant & minor office work. I met him in person for after 2nd year of engineering degree. He was same Ramesh, as it was before 2 year. Mingled in questions of Physics and Biology. Mathematic was never close him. He use to discuss same old questions of grade XII th. I keep on meeting him for next 2 year. He keeps on changing but in wrong direction. He was never been close to reality. He was in love with a lady 3-4 year older than him. In fact, she was a teacher in same institute. They came close & finally they got to close it. Affair was inter cast & would have never accepted by society & thier parents.
Ramesh was totally out of living. I lost keeping track on him. Neven been able to call him regularly. It was 4 O'clock morning, my mobile banged; I was in deep sleep. The man calling me was Ramesh's boss. He asked me, Whether I've any idea about Ramesh? I had eloped from institute with some money & other stuff. I suggested him to call at his home. I had no idea.

After 2 year, one of friend; Purbha Zamre called me. This guy was doing his MBBS degree from last 6 year. He had great plans, but no time to accomplish them. Purbha said. "Tipale, you know; I met Ramesh last evening. He has shifted to this place. He started his own business.". I was glad to know it. Was happy to see Ramesh is going on some stable & right track. I asked Purbha to bring him on call. He accepted. They were meeting after 2-3 days. Purbha called me. I knew, I'll be able to talk with Ramesh. But, this Ramesh was not like my friend Ramesh. He was changed. More business oriented, focused on target to get money for livelihood. Thinking was very matured. I was surprised to know it. But it was just an another story to direct us on wrong way.
After six months, I got the news from my friend Gaju Bokhare. Its was shocking news, "Ramesh did suicide at his home. He hanged himself" A drop of tear came to on eyelids. I never understood this guy. Puzzle of "But Why?" was not suppose to end up in this manner. Its was too coward way to face such huge question !!!
I made a painting in Ramesh's memories. The painting only had text lable "But Why?" in bold red color !

Recently gone through a book called "Wise or otherwise". It was translation of kannad/english stories in Marathi. Author have put every experience of life to the make meaning collection of stories.

I recommend the book to house wives & young to understand the feeling of a great woman & her thoughts to improve social barriers from life of every Indian.

Singapore !

Had been to Singapore on business trip. Its wonderful city with very strict rules & discipline. One can't imagine to pay $500 for eating food in MRT station or in MRT. Specially its indigestible for Indian staying in populated city like Mumbai. Same goes for me.

Fortunately, I like the food. Being non-veggie, it went easy for me. Thanks to Singaporean team to guide in choosing right food. Curry chicken was my most favorite one, it was made in small food place with pure Singaporean herbs & masala.

Being Indian I visited little India & Mustafa market. Its huge market with most of India stuff available. Its all cool to have every India thing in Singapore. In fact, many traffic rules are followed in Little India area. Its more like poss area of Mumbai, rather Chennai; as more south India population. I was surprised to know, they even teach Malyalum or Tamil as one of primary language in school.

As most beautiful place of Singapore, I visited Fultron hotel, Marylion statue & River side hotel (Banque Queue). Loved walking on road rather than traveling by bus or taxi. Thanks to Rishit, my friend who helped to get proper food on weekends.

I also met my CDAC buddy, Ajay. Dude was non-veggi before shifting to S'pore. Unfortunately, he ate burger in MacD which was cheesed with pig cheese (which never eaten in India or any Hindu guy will never like to have it). Now he is pure vegie in S'pore. He is doing very well with one of the mobile app developer company.

Most memorable thing was roaming testing done with Starhub team. We actually went for outing on east coast. It was great fun. Testing was a nominal thing. Team had planned for lunch in coastal area Indian Hotel. I was accompanied by Sabrina (The lady boss), Rachel (The cute lightweight girl), Fiona (Fairly family lady), Gek Choo (Elderly religious vegetarian lady). All ladies with Chinese origin/look but very caring attitude. We placed the order, I still remember the order :

1. Dal Makhani - Sabrina asked to have bucket full of daal after seeing same on next table
2. Butter chicken- As it was must to have non-veg
3. Naan- 1 Mango, 1 cheese, 2 butter.
4. Veg rice + some spicy sup for Gek Choo.

I went to wash my hands as Indian culture. Ladies were confused, why this guy went away.. when lunch is ready. I started eating with right hand.. cutting piece of naan with fore finger & support of mid finger & thumb.. as typical roti eater does. It was amazing thing for ladies. Sabrina tried cut roti with fingers but couldn't.
And Rachel was cutting her naan with fork & spoon. Some how she managed to finish her stuff but couldn't digest it. As on next day she told she had bad stomach & had to go bathroom many times. Gek Choo had ordered some spicy rice which to too much hot to eat. She keep on drinking water along with sup & rice.

Will look forward to see the place again...
Will always keep friends & their memories in safer side heart. ;)

She looks like shy gal, hiding from her face; her smooth back curve makes her more interesting... a fast work to express figurative beauty. I liked her even I don't see her face ;)

Accessing same email account & mails from windows & Linux

If you a dual boot & want to see same mails on both OS. Here is the solution !

Being power user of Linux & windows, I need mails & all other services to work smoothly on both most popular environments. Ater exploring in thunderbird capabilities, I figured out the way to access my company mail account in Linux & Windows using Thunderbird.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\jzk0qj4u.default\Mail\Local Folders

Config your mail account in windows.

Boot :
Reboot your system to linux.

Install Thunderbird :
Install thunderbird. Version 1.5+ is good enough.

Mount C:\
Now mount the C:\ drive on linux using mount command.
Same can be done to mount auto on every boot :
Edit /etc/fstab & add similar line as below
/dev/sda2 /home/mahendra/D_drive vfat gid=501,uid=501 1 1
/dev/sda1 /mnt/c ntfs defaults 0 0

pls check your device name /dev/sda_ , its file system & mount directory.

Now open thunderbird, config data directory path to : C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\jzk0qj4u.default\Mail\Local Folders

Restart your thunderbird. I have been using this from last few days. It works smooth. Pls make sure you mount c:\ before opening thunderbird. Otherwise you'll see blanck thunderbird account as mail directory is not accessible.

शाळा -- मिलींद बोकील

I was in ABC- Appa Balwant Chouk in Pune on last Satureday. Was there to buy a book "Yugandhar" by V. S. Khandekar. Its based on mytho life of Shree Krushna. My friend Avinash was interested in it.
Started conversation with one Marathi novel book seller. His name was Rupesh. Asked about the book & started bargainaing as usual style in Pune. His proposal was to give 80% discount on sell of Rs 800+ . I thought to buy few more books. Rupesh recommended some more historical mytho stuff. I wasn't really interested in it. Eventually he shown me book called " शाळा -- मिलिंद बोकील ". He said its almost based on your life.

"तya दिवशी मला कळलं की शाळेची मजा कशात आहे ते। वर्ग आहेत,बाकं आहेत, पोरंपोरी आहेत,सर आहेत,गणित आहे, भूगोल आहे,नागरिकशास्त्रसुध्दा; पण आपण त्यात कशातच नाही. आपण त्या गाईंच्या पाठीवर बसणार्‍या पांढर्‍या पक्ष्यांसारखे मुक्त आहोत.त्यांच्या शाळेत बसलेलो असलो तरी आपल्या मनात एक वेगळीच शाळा भरते.खास एकट्याचीच . त्या शाळेला वर्ग नाहीत,भिंती नाहीत,फ़ळा नाही,शिक्षक नाहीत; पण त्यातलं शिकणं फार सुंदर आहे."

Started reading it for next 2-3 hours. It started as if its my life. Wonderful way to express journey from childhood days of 14-16 yr to bit matured 17 yr man.

Its really suites well to a Maharatrian boy in Kokan or near by area of Mumbai. Would like to characters of story :

Me : Mukund Joshi , a nature lover , small but casual in studies, chess player, knows movie names very well, finally becomes a broken heart lover.
Shirodkar : My's line/chavi/beloved - My classmate, a cute aadarshwadi girl. I loved her character. The way writer put it.
Ambabai - My elder sis, my permanent headache at home
Aaisaheb - Aai, Mother
Surya - Suresh Mhatre. My friend in class. But a looser in matter of girls & studies. So his papa bit him like anything. Its in his caste - "Aagree".
Chitrya - Another scientist close friend. Very talented but pissed of due to his parent's fights & Devki.

Fawadya - My friend with v poor economic conditions.

Anyway, I didnt like the end. Its a tragic end. Mukund didn't get his girl. Vijay & his friend in jail. Surya & Fawadya failed. Chitrya lost his love kewada. Naru mama married to some girl, whom he't liked.

दोन दिवस पासून एक कादंबरी वाचत आहेत आम्ही। नाव आहे "ययाति" - वि स खांडेकर यांची १९५९ ला प्रकशित।

महाभारत नुसार -
खुप वर्षा पूर्वीची गोष्ट आहे। एक रजा होता "नहुष"। त्याला दोन सक्खी मुले होती - यती आणि ययाति , आणि बाकि सावत्र भाऊ होते - संयति , अयति , वियति आणि कीर्ति।

दूसरा संधर्ब -
नहुष ला दोन मुले होती- यती आणि ययाति । राजा ला एक महान र्हुह्शी ने शाप दिला असतो। "नहुष ची मुले कधी ही सुखी होणार नाहीत... " आणि तसेच होते॥ यती लहान पानी घर सोडून सन्यासी होतो॥ त्याची सिद्धि प्राप्त करायची इच्चा इतकी वाढते की तो सर्वा काही विसरून जातो।
ययाति - एक महान योद्धा बनतो। अस्वमेघ करतो, आई - वाडिला साठी सगळे करतो॥ त्याचे दुर्भाग्य - त्याला देवयानी नावाची शुक्रचार्याची मुलगी भेटली आहे आणि ते पानी ग्रहण करून विवाह बद्ध होतात

देवयानी - एक हट्टी, फारच खोचक बुद्धि ची मुलगी॥ ययाति तिच्या बरोअब्र कधीच खुश होत नाही
बिचारा ययाति दारू आणि बाकि च्या घान सवयी चा बळी पडतो। दारू , नशा आणि काम सुखा मागे पागल होतो...
त्याला हे सुद्धा कळत नाही की समोर ची व्यक्ति कोण आहे।

आणि कहानी मधे बरेच नविन पात्र येतात...
कच - देवगुरु चा मुलगा॥ आणि एक हुशार, कर्तात्वावन व्यक्ति
शर्मिश्ता - ययाति ची दूसरी पत्नी आणि ॥ कर्तात्वावन व्यक्ति , कचाची बहिन
देवयानी - ययाति ची पहिली पत्नी आणि कचाची बहिन
पुरु - शर्मिश्ता चा मुलगा।
अलका (2) - ययाति ची बल मैत्रीं आणि सोनेरी केसाची मुलगी...
